We’re starting a new series on our blog to introduce you to our talented, compassionate and hard-working staff at The Florida Center, and all they do for our children and families! Our first “get to know you” is Gigi, the newest member of The Florida Center team as our Human Resources Director!

Name: Gigi Gillis

Where are you from? I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to FL in 2008 when I deployed to Iraq for a year. I was able to get a job in FL and have stayed since in the sunshine state!

Role at The Florida Center: I am the Human Resources Director

How long have you been with The Florida Center? I have been working for the Florida Center for four days and have been an amazing experience learning new things everyday while working with and for an excellent team.

What does a typical day look like? I have a handsome 3 month ½ baby boy so my typical day is enjoy every single moment I get with him. We wake up in the morning, get ready to drop him off in school with the amazing Ms. Peggy and Ms. Stephanie and then I go to work and pick him up afterwards. We go home, we play, and then we get ready for our next day’s adventure.

What’s your favorite part of your job? Everything. Working as Human Resources is my passion and what I love to do. The best in life is when you do what you love because you will always strive to be the best.

What are some of your hobbies? I love to read, learn, go out with my family and enjoy life.

What does a perfect weekend for you look like? Spending time with family. Both my husband and I are very close with our families and we love seeing JJ (our son) spending quality time with his grandparents and great grandparents!

If you could have any superpower what would it be? If I could have a superpower it would be ‘The Positive Girl’. I am extremely positive while realistic in life because I do believe that when you find the positive side of things, good things will happen to you. ‘Do good and good will come to you’.
